About Me
Greetings, welcome to Coder's Errand!
You may be wondering who I am, or why you should read this blog.
I believe that Blockchain is the most exciting IT breakthrough of the last few years and in 2018 I decided to join the ranks of those hoping to make it viable for every day products.
So you want to be a blockchain developer
The market is hot, the supply is scarce. Experts are in high demand and you want to be one of them. So much to study, where do you turn to?
You must learn the different types of blockchain; the new programming languages; the main players; the feasibility challenges; the big problems; the latest solutions.
Information out there is often too hard or too easy. And there is just not enough. It takes a long time to search, select and understand all of it, but you also want more time with your family or for your personal projects. I get it, it happens to me as well.
That’s why I write the Coder’s Errand.
This is a place to share experiences and knowledge, to talk about the problems I found… and that you will find as well.
Maybe I can help, maybe I can inspire you to dare.

A little bit more about me...
It was a gamble. 2018 was the year when the wild dreams of crypto-currencies crashed, and it was not certain the field would survive. But although hidden from the public, there is a growing interest in Blockchain and associated technologies from big banks, consulting agencies and universities. There is a huge promise in the air, ready to explode.
For those who want to realize that potential, there is much to learn and many challenges to overcome. Coder’s Errand is a record of my experience in this learning journey, and can be, I hope, an inspiration and also a help for others in the same situation.
I am currently an Engineering Manager at Artos Systems, Ltd, having previously been the Lead Research Engineer at the same company. Through this time, I have worked in Solidity, Zero-Knowledge and now Rust and Substrate.
My previous experience and education has been very helpful.
I hold a PhD in Computer Science, with specialization in Cryptography and Kolmogorov Complexity, together with a degree in Software Engineering. I had the good fortune of doing a Post-Doc at the Information Security Group at Royal Holloway University of London, focusing on public-key cryptography.
Professionally, I have done almost everything you can in the IT field: I have been a software developer/engineer; I taught for, and directed, undergraduate degrees in Computer Science; I published research articles; and I have done some consultancy freelance work. More recently, I gave an invited talk on Zero-Knowledge at Marble 2019, and lectures at two Zero-Knowledge workshops, held at King’s College, London (2019).
I balance the technical demands of work with two other passions, Karate and Classical Music. They are surprisingly similar, and may yet find a space in this blog some day.
